Where do you come from?
Where do you come from?
This question
has alot to it if you want it to. It can encompass religion and science,
bringing into play various other fields, such as spirituality, the mind
and feelings. The short answer is simplely, my biological parents. Most
people, however, are not satisfied with that answer. They meant to ask
either of the following, where does your value system come from? or where
did man come from? (what was the beginning?) Those are obviously two totally
different questions than the one most commonly asked and both also, can
be answered differently.
Where
does your value system come from? That is hard question in itself and most
people will give you the big picture. The big picture is composed the environment,
family and religion. I say my value system comes from no one but myself
and the way that I have combined all the information that I have been exposed
to. I have had to think about the choices I have and will in the future
make. To allow events to occur that affect you without make a definitive
choice, is also making a choice, the worst one possible… allowing yourself
not to think. You learn and grow from making thoughtful choices, poor or
bad choices give you same addition of experience as making a good or superior
choice. If religion, the environment or family had such a large role to
play in an individual’s value system, then most people would have very
similar personalities and systems of value. You say the apple doesn’t fall
far from tree, I say that an individual is not an apple. The reason that
most people do similar things that their parents do, that religion preaches
or the environment “reinforces”, is that they care not to use active, rational
thought in their day-to-day choice making. Also, the sheer fact that people
can “overcome” or “rise” out of dreadful conditions and locales goes to
prove that the big three factors [family, religion, and the environment]
have very little to do with the value system of an individual. Basically
we only have different starting points, the direction in which we go, up
or down, good or evil, is only up to the individual.
Where
did man come from? See also “What was the beginning?”. To answer this question,
I will allow a twelve year old to speak for me. if there where no stop
lights in the world, would there be laws written about failure to obey
said light. No, there wouldn’t be any laws written, for what? So I applied
the same logic to the beginning of time, matter and energy. Working backward
from what I knew of evolution, biology, chemistry and physics the following
is what happened in the beginning. In the beginning, there was nothing…
no matter, no energy or physics, no ideas, reality or time. Since this
was the state of things, there was nothing to stop matter and energy from
just appearing… the rest, so to say, is history. I could not prove it
when I was twelve, and I cannot prove it today. I think that the method
I thought of when I was twelve is sound and it will remain so until I am
proven wrong.
Yes, I
did not mention God, a supreme spirit or any other otherworldly thing,
I think that there is no reason to.
